Curriculum Overview

Our school is proud to offer a rigorous and engaging academic program aligned with the Common Core and California Standards-Based Instruction. Designed to challenge and support learners at every level, our curriculum focuses on core subject areas including English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies—laying a strong foundation for academic success.

Academic and Social-Emotional Support

We are deeply committed to supporting the whole child—academically, socially, and emotionally. To help every student thrive, we offer a range of services including Special Education support, Structured English Immersion, counseling services, and targeted academic intervention programs. These supports provide personalized assistance tailored to each student’s unique needs and overall well-being.

Bilingual Services

Bilingual services are provided on a needed basis when a bilingual instructional assistant is available.

Spanish Dual Language Enrichment Program (DLE)

The DLE Program is a unique program involving K-6 grade Spanish speakers.  They have the opportunity to become fully bilingual and bi-literate while making progress in all academic areas.

Sixth Grade Trips

The sixth graders will take three trips for their last year at César E. Chávez Intermediate. The students will be involved in fund raising to pay for the trips. Some of the following parks/locations may be possibilities:

The Sly Park Environmental Education Center or Sierra Outdoor: provides unforgettable outdoor science learning experiences to over 8000 elementary students each year.

Fog Willow Farms: The scope at Fog Willow Science Farm was designed using current California State Curriculum Standards and Frameworks as guidelines. The curriculum areas covered are: Physical Science, Earth Science, and Life Science.

For the other part of the day, she will help teachers with discipline and classroom management, coordinate the CELDT testing and ELL paperwork., work with curriculum issues, and will serve as our Special Education and School Study Team coordinator and assist families and students with obtaining services. To improve student achievement, she teaches ½ of the day in our SWS and math programs.  She also assists the Principal with student behavior issues in the office.
